Custom properties let you add fields for information your business needs beyond Curateās default properties.
For example, create a Project Style field, a Lead Source dropdown or a field for an additional contact name. Use the existing customer-name properties when you need the primary customerās first or last name.

Choose Project or Contact
Property Type | What the property belongs to | Example |
Project | A specific Project. | Project Style, Service Type or a calculated Delivery Fee. |
Contact | A specific Contact. | A customer preference or additional Contact detail. |
Use the Project and Contact tabs on the Custom Properties page to find each group. Choose Project when creating a calculated property; Calculated Property is unavailable for Contact properties.
Create a Custom Property
Go to Settings ā Custom Properties.
Select Add custom property.
Choose the Property Type: Project or Contact.
Select a Field Type that matches the information you want to store.
Enter a clear Name, such as Project Style.
Review the Internal/Token Name. This fills in as you enter the Name; you can adjust it before creating the property.
Complete the additional settings shown for the selected field type.
Select Create.

The field type defines how information is entered or selected. Form question types are configured separately; choose a compatible question type when collecting the property through a questionnaire.
Show a Property When Creating a Project
For Project properties, the creation/editing panel includes:
Include on project create: shows the field when creating a new Project.
Required on project create: requires a value before the Project can be created.
For example, require a Lead Source selection so your team captures that information when creating each Project.
Enter or Update a Projectās Values
Open the Projectās Overview.
Find Custom Properties in the Details tab.
Enter or update the relevant property value.
Use the main Understanding Properties and Personalized Tokens guide to learn how these values can be reused in content.
Collect Property Values Through Forms and Inquiries
Open the form you want to edit.
Add or select a questionnaire question.
Choose the appropriate question Type.
In the Custom Property dropdown, apply the property that should store the answer.
Set whether the question is required, then save the form.
When a property is applied to the question, its answer carries into Project Overview when the inquiry creates or is converted into a Project.
Standard Forms collect inquiries without automatically creating a Project. Workflow Forms create a Project on submission. See Understanding Forms & Inquiries for the form workflow.
Use a Custom Property in Content
Open a supported email template, description or proposal editor, click Personalized tokens or Personalize, and select your propertyās token. Review the source value in Project Overview and preview the result for the intended Project.
Edit a Propertyās Name
Go to Settings ā Custom Properties.
Select the property.
Edit its Name.
Select Done.
Why the Internal/Token Name stays the same: Curate uses this name to keep the property connected to saved Projects, inquiry responses and token references. To protect those connections, the Internal/Token Name stays fixed after the property is created. You can update the display Name while keeping those existing connections intact.
Archive or Restore a Property
There are two ways to archive an unused property from Settings ā Custom Properties:
From the list: find the property, open its ⦠menu and select Archive.
From the property editor: click the property to open it, then use the Archive button at the bottom.
To restore it, open the Archived tab, find the property, open its ⦠menu and select Unarchive.
If you need to replace a property with a different setup, create a new property with its own Internal/Token Name and review any forms or templates that should use it. An Internal/Token Name that has already been used cannot be reused for another property.
