Overview
A calculated property works like a calculator inside your Project. You choose the line-item categories and percentage to use, and Curate calculates an amount from those itemsâ selling prices.
This can help you calculate a design fee, service fee, delivery fee or venue commission consistently across Projects.
Simple example: If the included items have a combined selling price of $1,000 and your percentage is 10%, the calculated result is $100.
How Calculated Properties Fit Into Custom Properties
Create calculated properties from Settings â Custom Properties. Choose Project as the Property Type, then select Calculated Property in the Field Type dropdown. This field type is available for Project properties only.
Use Creating and Managing Custom Properties for general field setup and property management.
Create a Calculated Property
Go to Settings â Custom Properties.
Select Add custom property.
Choose Project as the Property Type.
Choose Calculated Property as the Field Type.
Enter a clear Name, such as Design Fee, and review the Internal/Token Name.
Complete the calculation settings shown.
Select Create.
Set Up the Calculation for a Project
Check that the relevant Order line items have the correct Product categories.
Open the Projectâs Overview.
Find the calculated property.
Select the line-item categories you want included.
Set the percentage for this Project.
Review the resulting amount.
Category selection determines which items are included. For example, a fee intended for floral work should use the relevant floral categories.
Link an Itemâs Price to a Calculated Property
Open your Project and go to Orders.
Click the itemâs price in the Orders table, or open the itemâs details and click its price there.
Click Link to change the price from a manually entered amount to a property-linked value.
Select the calculated property you want the price to use.
Review the resulting item price and Project total.
For example, link a Design Fee line itemâs price to your Design Fee calculated property so the item uses the calculated amount.
â ď¸ Calculated property grayed out? If the productâs category is included in the calculated propertyâs calculation, linking it would make the property calculate itself in an endless loop. Curate disables the option to prevent this.
To resolve this, either remove the conflicting category from the calculated property in Project Overview, or change the productâs category to one that isnât included in the calculation. Then try linking it again.
Display a Calculated Amount in Text
You can also insert the calculated property into a description or another text field that has a Personalize button. Open that selector and choose the calculated propertyâs token.
Linking an itemâs price uses the calculated value as a charge. Inserting the token into text displays the value; it does not itself add a charge to the Order.
Review Changes Before Sharing
Check the categories assigned to the included items.
Confirm the percentage for this Project.
Compare the calculated result with the amount you expect.
Review the linked fee and Project total.
Check the proposal preview before sharing it with your client.
If the values shown in different parts of the Project do not agree, contact Support with the Project and the property or line item involved.
